Tummy Tuck in Riverton, UT

Loose skin and stubborn fat around the abdomen can be difficult to address, even with a healthy lifestyle. Significant weight loss, pregnancy, and aging often leave behind excess skin and weakened abdominal muscles that no amount of exercise can fully repair. A tummy tuck, performed by Dr. John L. Clayton at John L. Clayton, MD at Southridge Clinic Plastic Surgery, tightens these muscles and removes excess skin to restore a firmer, smoother midsection. Also known as abdominoplasty, this procedure offers a personalized approach to body contouring, helping men and women in Riverton, UT feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance. Whether your goal is to regain a more defined shape or simply improve your body's contour, a tummy tuck can offer lasting results. Contact our office today to learn more and schedule your consultation.

A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that begins with an incision made just above the pubic area, which can often be concealed by underwear or swimwear. Dr. Clayton will carefully remove excess skin and fat while tightening the underlying abdominal muscles. Depending on your individual needs, the incision may extend from hip to hip for a more extensive result, or it can be more limited for those requiring a less involved procedure. Liposuction is often used alongside the tummy tuck to further contour the abdomen and flanks.

The tummy tuck recovery process typically takes 2 – 4 weeks, during which you can expect some swelling and bruising. You'll be given detailed aftercare instructions to help manage discomfort and promote healing. Dr. Clayton will closely monitor your progress and discuss what to expect after your tummy tuck as your body heals. As with all surgery, you can expect some minor scarring after tummy tuck surgery, but Dr. Clayton will place your incisions in a way that makes them easy to hide.

Following this procedure, you will be carefully examined and sent home wearing a compression garment to decrease swelling. Walking upright will be challenging at first, so you should rest for a few days. Walking becomes easier once the abdominal muscles adjust and the incision begins to heal. Most patients can resume a regular routine for around two weeks. Exercise can start around the two-month mark or when Dr. Clayton gives you permission. The stomach will feel tight and uncomfortable, but you will feel healthy and normal again after recovering.

A tummy tuck is ideal for individuals who want to reduce excess skin and fat around the abdomen for a firmer, more toned appearance. This procedure offers several important benefits, such as:

  • Removing loose, sagging skin
  • Tightening weakened or separated abdominal muscles
  • Improving overall body shape and contour
  • Enhancing confidence by achieving a smoother midsection

The cost of a tummy tuck can vary, depending on your specific treatment plan. During your consultation at John L. Clayton, MD at Southridge Clinic Plastic Surgery, we'll go over all the details and discuss flexible financing options to make your procedure more affordable.

I have had two surgeries with Dr. Clayton. The first being a breast reduction. And I am just weeks out of a panniclectomy, a tummy tuck and liposuction. He is not only professional and personable and does a great job. I have been both happy with and have loved my results. He is both friendly and personable as is his staff. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Dr. Clayton is fantastic! - Riverton, UT - Dr. Clayton is fantastic! I am a mother of 4 and my first pregnancy was with twins. My ob/gyn let me know after my twins that a tummy tuck would be the only way to repair my stomach so I have planned on having one for the past 16 years. I had a consultation 6 years ago when I knew I was done having children but I just didn't feel good about it after meeting with the same plastic surgeon that had done my implants years before. I decided this year to look into it again and maybe get a breast lift and replace my 16 year old saline implants. I looked for plastic surgeons online and read up on many. I was impressed with Dr. Clayton's bio and reviews and so I scheduled a consultation with him. I had assumed that I would meet with multiple surgeons and hopefully find someone I could trust. When I met with Dr. Clayton I felt comfortable with him immediately. He explained the procedures and helped me to have realistic expectations. I ended up scheduling my surgery and I am now almost 6 weeks post op. I am already so impressed with my results! My scars look better than I could have imagined and both Dr. Clayton and his medical assistant have been helpful with any questions or concerns that I have had. I know that he will give me whatever time I need at my visits and I never feel rushed through. I am extremely glad that I found Dr. Clayton!

I had an amazing experience! - Draper, UT - I absolutely loved the work Dr. Clayton performed on me. After having 5 kids my body was ready to get back to pre pregnancy look. I haven't been this happy with myself in 17 years before my first baby. I was so nervous for the surgery and how I would function afterwards. He took the time to reassure me that I would do great and I was a healthy candidate for the procedure, but also was real on the recovery of it. He didn't mask any of the pain I would feel. Everything was spot on with how I would feel at so many post days/weeks of healing. He was real informative after the surgery with the many questions I had the first few weeks. I would highly recommend him for a mommy makeover. I had breast augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction in my flanks and stomach area. I had hardly any bruising because of the binder he put me in (not all physicians have you wear a binder) the binder is uncomfortable but so worth it for bruising and swelling purposes. The breast aug was pretty much painless and very clean cut. I am so happy with the results! The tummy tuck scar is amazing! As I looked at YouTube and other internet sites at peoples scars, I was prepared to look like Frankenstein afterwards. Not at all! The scar looks so great! And the stitches were sewn so nicely which makes all the difference in the final result of the scar. The scar is low enough I can wear a bikini and look like I'm 20 again! I will refer everyone I know to him!

Breast reduction, small implant & lipo on chin, back, stomach & fat transfer - I chose Dr Clayton because of his amazing bedside manner and before and after photos. Getting a breast reduction has always been a plan but life and breastfeeding push it out. While I was waiting, I did go to Mexico and have a tummy tuck (you can find those results on my profile). Even though Dr. Clayton was my first choice, I couldn't resist the pricing and insanely good results I was seeing. Unfortunately, it proved to be a mistake as I had a very large scar opening that I had to have taken care of her. That's how I originally found Dr. Clayton. He spent weeks healing me up and closing me open wound. He was absolutely incredible and I knew then that I wouldn't have done surgery with anyone else. Skip to March - I ended up with a very strange shape because of the way that the tummy tuck was done in Mexico. I had lost all of my curves. I was sure that I wanted to move forward with the breast reduction and augmentation through Dr. Clayton. But I grappled back-and-forth if I should also add all the liposuction to fix the fat pockets and give me back my curves. I research a couple other alternatives that are claiming to be a lot more aggressive to get your results, most notably MIA Aesthtics with Dr Van Borem. Dr. Clayton assured me that he is extremely aggressive and could give me the results I want.Dr. Clayton's nurse Quinn goes above and beyond and really makes you feel so welcomed while you are in the lobby, quotes and check ups. This was another reason I choose him over MIA. As I found them much more sales oriented and hard to contact. Dr. Clayton literally gave me his personal phone number to text with any issues! How could you not feel important? As of 4/8 I went into surgery doing a breast reduction with a small implant; Lipo on my chin, all of my back and all of my stomach and fat transfer to my butt. The results are still in the making but I'll continue to update with pictures as I progesss

Abdominoplasty can be an effective option for both women and men. If you struggle with loose skin and stubborn fat in the abdominal area that does not respond to diet and exercise, this procedure can help create a firmer, more contoured appearance. Dr. Clayton recommends reaching a stable weight before undergoing surgery, as abdominoplasty is not a weight-loss procedure but rather a solution for removing excess skin. Liposuction is often included to further refine the results by eliminating unwanted fat. If you have good skin elasticity but are still dissatisfied with your abdomen despite weight loss efforts, liposuction alone may be a better option. Women considering abdominoplasty should wait until they are finished having children to maintain long-lasting results.

How much does a tummy tuck cost?

At the time of your consultation, Dr. Clayton will create your unique treatment plan to reach your specific concerns and goals before estimating costs. He will be better able to estimate your costs as soon as the type of abdominoplasty has been selected, what technique will be used, which anesthesia you will need, and more. To ensure you get beautiful results from a skilled Plastic Surgeon, John L. Clayton, MD at Southridge Clinic Plastic Surgery makes it easier to afford your tummy tuck by accepting several payment methods and helping you find low-interest financing.

What type of tummy tuck should I get?

There are three most common types of tummy tucks: full, extended, and mini. In your consultation, Dr. Clayton will listen to your needs and goals before examining your stomach. Then, He can better decide which tummy tuck will give you the best results. A full abdominoplasty is better if you want to address loose skin in both the upper and lower abdomen, whereas a mini tummy tuck is good if you only have problems below your belly button, like a "pooch." The extended technique is designed to improve the abdomen, upper thighs, and hips.

What will my scars look like?

The incisions needed for your tummy tuck will depend on the technique used. For all tummy tucks, Dr. Clayton makes the thinnest incisions possible to minimize scarring. He also places incisions in areas that are less visible (in the pubic region or belly button) so a swimsuit or underwear can easily conceal them. After your tummy tuck, it's important to follow your scar care instructions so your stitches heal properly and eventually blend into your natural skin.

Can I get pregnant after a tummy tuck?

While you can still get pregnant following a tummy tuck, it will likely alter your results. Dr. Clayton recommends that you finish building your family before considering an abdominoplasty. If you do become pregnant after your tummy tuck, a second surgery can be done to refresh your stomach.

Can I get a tummy tuck with another surgery?

Many patients combine a second body surgery with a tummy tuck to see more dramatic results. During your consultation with Dr. Clayton, talk to Him about your desires so a unique surgical plan may be developed to match your goals. You may combine a tummy tuck with a thigh lift for a lower body lift or several areas for a custom body contouring. If you want to improve your whole body after having children or losing a significant amount of weight, you may be an ideal candidate for a mommy makeover or after weight loss surgery.
